The Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS) has announced a temporary water supply interruption affecting several areas in Eldoret on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, to facilitate routine maintenance of its water infrastructure.

In a customer notice issued on Sunday, October 12, the utility said water supply from the Sosiani Water Treatment Plant would be interrupted between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm as technicians undertake maintenance on the raw water transmission pipeline serving the facility.

The company explained that the planned works are necessary to maintain the reliability of the water supply system and ensure continued service delivery to its customers.

The interruption is expected to affect Eldoret Central Business District (CBD), West Indies, Lower Elgon View, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital and Eldoret Hospital.

Other affected areas include Langas, Pioneer, Kipkarren, Yamumbi, Kipkenyo, Rivatex, Fire Station, Ken-Knit, KCC, Reale Hospital, St Luke Hospital, Boma Inn Hotel and Annex.

The maintenance exercise will temporarily disrupt water supply to customers in these locations while the company carries out the scheduled works on the transmission pipeline.

However, ELDOWAS clarified that the interruption would not affect all areas served by the utility, noting that other water treatment plants would remain operational throughout the maintenance period.

The continued operation of the other facilities is expected to maintain water supply to customers in areas outside the affected service zones.

The utility said the interruption was limited to water supplied through the Sosiani Water Treatment Plant and urged customers in the affected locations to take note of the scheduled maintenance period.

Planned maintenance of water infrastructure is an important part of ensuring efficient treatment and distribution, as transmission pipelines play a critical role in moving raw water to treatment facilities before it is supplied to consumers.

The works are also intended to support the continued operation of the water supply network and help minimise the risk of unexpected disruptions caused by infrastructure faults.

Residents, businesses, health facilities and other institutions within the affected areas may need to plan their water use around the scheduled interruption to minimise inconvenience during the 12-hour maintenance period.

ELDOWAS continues to provide water and sanitation services across Eldoret and surrounding areas, relying on its treatment plants and distribution infrastructure to meet the needs of households and institutions.

The company’s notice comes as the utility undertakes routine maintenance to support the reliability of its water supply systems and sustain service delivery to its customers.
