TWWDA champions sustainable water solutions

Tana Water Works Development Agency (TWWDA) has stepped up efforts to promote innovative and sustainable water solutions by partnering with Davis & Shirtliff at the ASK Central Kenya Show.
The partnership provided an opportunity for the two organisations to showcase modern water technologies aimed at improving access to reliable water services while promoting efficiency, renewable energy use and sustainable infrastructure development.
Visitors to the exhibition had an opportunity to interact with representatives from TWWDA and Davis & Shirtliff, learn more about water technologies and witness live demonstrations of selected equipment and systems. The engagement provided members of the public and other stakeholders with practical insights into how emerging technologies can be applied to address water supply challenges.
Among the technologies showcased were borehole pumping systems and solar-powered water solutions. Such technologies are increasingly important in areas where conventional electricity supply may be unreliable or costly, providing alternative ways of pumping and distributing water.
Solar-powered water systems, in particular, can help reduce dependence on conventional energy sources while lowering operational costs and supporting efforts to conserve energy. Borehole pumping technologies, meanwhile, provide an important option for accessing underground water resources where appropriate and sustainably managed.
The exhibition also created a platform for stakeholders to discuss the importance of partnerships in developing resilient water infrastructure. By bringing together public water-sector institutions and private-sector technology providers, such collaborations can encourage the sharing of expertise and accelerate the adoption of practical solutions to water challenges.
For TWWDA, participation in the ASK Central Kenya Show formed part of its broader engagement with stakeholders and the public on sustainable approaches to water development. Exhibitions such as the show provide an opportunity to move beyond traditional communication channels and demonstrate how technology can directly contribute to improved water services.
The event also highlighted the growing role of innovation in addressing water and energy challenges. As communities continue to demand dependable and affordable water services, investment in efficient pumping systems, renewable energy and modern infrastructure is becoming increasingly important.
TWWDA and Davis & Shirtliff’s collaboration demonstrates how strategic partnerships can connect technical expertise, innovative products and public-sector water development goals.
The agency acknowledged Davis & Shirtliff for its continued collaboration and contribution to advancing innovative water technologies. The partnership underscores the value of working across the public and private sectors to develop water solutions that are not only effective but also environmentally sustainable and economically viable.
Through such engagements, TWWDA continues to promote greater awareness of technologies that can help expand water access, improve operational efficiency and support a more sustainable future for the water sector.
