Pension members review scheme performance

The NYEWASCO Pension Scheme has held its 20th Annual General Meeting (AGM), bringing together scheme members, Trustees and other key stakeholders to review its performance and discuss issues affecting members’ retirement benefits.
The annual meeting provided an opportunity for members to receive updates on the management and financial position of the pension scheme, while also engaging with Trustees and other officials on matters concerning their retirement savings.
Among the key presentations made during the AGM was the Chairperson’s Report, which provided an overview of the Scheme’s activities and progress during the reporting period. Members were also taken through the Audited Financial Statements for the financial year ended December 31, 2025.
The financial statements gave members an opportunity to understand the Scheme’s financial position and how members’ retirement funds were being managed.
The AGM also featured an Investment Report outlining the performance of the Scheme’s investments. The report was important in providing members with information on how their contributions are being invested and the role of investment performance in supporting the long-term growth and sustainability of their retirement benefits.
An Administration Report was also presented, highlighting key administrative matters and developments within the Scheme.
Beyond the financial and administrative updates, members participated in an education session aimed at enhancing their understanding of pension matters and retirement planning. The session provided an opportunity for members to gain more knowledge on issues affecting their benefits and responsibilities as members of the Scheme.
The Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) also addressed the AGM, providing members with additional information and guidance on retirement benefits matters. The Authority’s participation offered an opportunity for members to better understand the regulatory framework governing pension schemes and the measures in place to safeguard members’ interests.
A question-and-answer session formed another key part of the AGM, allowing members to raise questions, seek clarification and engage directly with those responsible for managing the Scheme.
The engagement underscored the importance of maintaining open communication between the Scheme’s management, Trustees and members.
The 20th AGM ultimately reinforced the need for transparency, accountability and active member participation in the management of the NYEWASCO Pension Scheme.
As the Scheme continues to serve its members, the meeting highlighted the importance of sound financial management, effective administration and responsible investment in securing sustainable retirement benefits for members.
